CIPM seeks partnership with Society for Human Resource Management

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) said it is targeting a partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), United States for collaboration in human resources management.
President and Chairman of the Governing Council, CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Gobir said the goal of the collaboration was to expand the symbol of credibility, competence, and commitment of the professional body.
Speaking in Uyo during the 63rd induction ceremony of 272 new members with the theme, “Evolving Realities of People Management in the Public Service of the Future”, Gobir stated that members are leaders in the community of HR professionals and change makers worldwide.
“Through our strategic MOUs with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in
the UK, and the Chartered Professionals in Human Resource in Canada, we are not just raising the bar, we are in fact the bar.
“And let me add that very soon we will be starting conversations with SHRM of the United States of America, with a view to signing an MOU.
As we have done with CIPD UK and the CPHR, Canada.
“We are an institution chartered by law, by an act of Parliament.
We are globally respected, and we are regionally and internationally impactful. Our certifications are not just ink on paper. They are symbols of credibility, competence, and commitment.
“Our certificate is a passport to leadership and a badge of honour that connects you to the global community of HR professionals and change makers worldwide.
“With 32 branches across Nigeria and vibrant presence in the United Kingdom, in Canada and in the United States of America, CIPM is indeed the apex and only recognized regulatory body for people management in Nigeria,” he stated.
The President urged the new members to become change agents in their respective organisations, and unleash the potentials of the people they manage.
He charged them not to forget to nurture their potential, design better work place, think differently, and aspire for excellence and growth in the association.
He tasked them on teamwork and collaboration to deliver on their mandate and key performance results (KPRs).
Meanwhile the State Chairman, CIPM, Dr Rosalyn Essien has described human resource professionals as strategic partners who drive busines outcomes through expertise.
Speaking during the annual conference of CIPM which had the theme: “Navigating New Frontiers of HR”, Essien stated that today’s work was undergoing a shift, driven by technology, demographic change and evolving employee expectations.
She explained that CIPM’s role is pivotal in developing and fostering excellence and innovation in human resource management practice in Nigeria.
She mentioned that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Akwa Ibom State Government have adopted the
professionalisation of human resource management in the nation’s public sector.
“The world of work is undergoing seismic shift, driven by technological advancement, demographic change and evolving employee expectations.
“As HR professionals, we are not just support functions, we are strategic partners, driving busines outcomes through our expertise. We must speak the language of business, drive innovation and creati in Human Resource Management, and build strong relationship.
“Organizations and Institutions are undergoing dramatic changes with significant implications for how people are best organized and managed.
“Effective Human Resource Management of people is critical to an organization’s success hence a people-management focus must be more strategic.
“An effective Human Resource management gives people the chance to contribute effectively and productively to the overall Institutional direction and the accomplishment of the organisation’s goals and objectives,” she stated.
