Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Thursday submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 governorship election at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking after the submission, Hamzat reaffirmed his commitment to service, responsible leadership and the continued progress of Lagos State, saying his decision to step forward was driven by a deep sense of duty to the people and a determination to build on the developmental gains already recorded across the state.

“We are in the political cycle, and we belong to a progressive party that follows due process and is well organised; the All Progressives Congress. Today, we are here to submit our forms and declare our intentions for office. Our party fixed this date for submission, and that is why you see this gathering of personalities in a joyful and celebratory mood,” he said.

The deputy governor added that his ambition was centred on service, responsibility and building a Lagos that works better for every family, business and resident.

Reflecting on the achievements recorded through collaborative governance in Lagos over the years, Hamzat said that while considerable progress had been made, greater opportunities remained to strengthen infrastructure, improve public service delivery, deepen economic growth and enhance residents’ quality of life.

“We have made progress together, but there is still more to do. I am stepping forward with experience, purpose and a deep belief in the future of our state. We understand the geography and history of Lagos, and our task is to project it better. Good things are already happening in Lagos; our duty is to ensure they continue,” he said.

Hamzat described the submission of his forms as another significant step towards a greater Lagos anchored on inclusive growth, innovation, sustainable development and people-centred governance.

He reiterated his readiness to continue working with residents, stakeholders and communities across the state to ensure Lagos remains a model of excellence and prosperity in Nigeria and beyond.
