Eight persons have been killed in a bloody clash between two confraternities in Benin the Edo state capital.
Investigations showed that the bodies of victims of the bloody clashes in the last 24 hours have littered the streets and major roads across the capital town and other local government areas.
Two of the victims were reportedly killed at Uselu-Ugbowo axis of Benin, while Irhirhi, Ogunmwenhi, and Egor axis have one casualty each, making a total of five killed during the clashes on Wednesday.
It was also gathered that three more were killed in the early hours of Thursday at Egor axis, thereby making it a total of eight deaths within one day.
As of the time of writing this report, details of circumstances that led to the killings have remained unknown.
The Edo State Police Commands Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for confirmation on the incident but a senior police officer who craved anonymity said the command was taking steps to contain the situation.
