Breaking: Senator Walid Jibrin resigns as PDP BoT chair

Following the allegations and insistence by the southern wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the perceived ‘northernisation’ of the party, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees BoT, of the PDP, Senator Walid Jibrin, has resigned.

Jibrin voluntarily stepped aside on Thursday, at the ongoing PDP BoT meeting in Abuja.

According to him, the decision was to ensure that the PDP candidate, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, wins the 2023 election.

The resignation was a sequel to the demand of the southern leaders to reflect equity, fairness, justice and equality in the party’s hierarchy ahead of the 2023 general elections.

It was gathered that his resignation was to woo the southern leaders to support the candidacy of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
