Video of Chrisland School girl who was suspended for being raped by her schoolmates
…wild condemnation trails school’s action
A 10-year-old girl from Lagos’ Chrisland School Opebi was reportedly gang-raped.
It was gathered that the perpetrators allegedly recorded the crime and posted the video on the Instagram social media platform.
A well-known music executive, Ubi Franklin, revealed the identity of the victim as the 10-year-old daughter of a friend of his.
According to Ubi Franklin, the girl was selected to represent Chrisland School in a competition in Dubai at the time of the incident.
He claimed that the victim’s bereaved parents learnt of the incident a month after it occurred from another parent at the school.
“Just got off the phone with a friend of mine. His 10-year-old daughter was selected to represent her school at the World School Games in Dubai. His daughter was r**ped by fellow students, video tapped and posted on Instagram, and the school concealed it for a month.
He found out on his own when another parent called his wife and showed his wife the video of his 10-year-old daughter being circulated on Instagram. I have spent the last one hour listening to confessional statements by some teachers and I am begging this should rather be a dream.”
In a follow-up update, Ubi Franklin said the school authority had suspended the raped victim. He said the school pretended to take the girl for a COVID-19 test but instead carried out a pregnancy test on the victim.
”UPDATE ON MY PREVIOUS POST. This school took the girl from her parents that they wanted to conduct a Covid test and the school rather took the girl for a pregnancy test. As we speak the girl has been SUSPENDED from the school. Some things don’t make sense at all”
In a follow-up tweet on Monday morning, Ubi Franklin wondered why Chrisland school acted the way it did.
”2:20 Am. Just left my friend’s residence, you will weep if you see my friend and his Wife How can Chrisland school do this? It took you a month to tell her parents? Sent her a suspension letter after her family started raging. This is cruel and disgusting.”
Following the leaked video of the Chrisland School 10-year-old pupil which is being shared among pupils of the school, there has been a wild condemnation from every quarter on the internet.
The 10-year-old girl student was on April 14 suspended by the school authorities after she engaged in s3xual intercourse with her co-learners.
The incident happened in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during the World School Games in March.
Chrisland Schools is a conglomerate of schools providing education for Nursery, Primary and Secondary School students from across Nigeria, but with facilities situated in Lagos and Abuja.
Shortly after Mr Franklin’s post on the Chrisland School Video incident, Nigerians on social media started name dropping Chrisland school Lagos, then also followed a media statement from Chrisland explaining what had transpired.
Pupils from the school were in Dubai in March to participate in the World School Games between March 10- 13, 2022. But in the letter to the girl’s parents dated, April 14, 2022, the school’s authorities alleged that the girl took part in what was referred to as “improper behaviour.”
According to the school located in Victoria Island Lagos, she took part in a truth or dare game and “and consequently, (name redacted) is hereby placed on indefinite suspension until you as the parent ensure that she is punished, adequately counselled and rehabilitated”.
In the seven-paragraph letter signed by the Principal Mrs Azike, it says “In line with our core values centred on discipline, Chrisland schools have zero tolerance for any improper behaviour or misconduct.”
With no mention of r3pe, the school added that other students who took part in the games had been suspended and that the girl and her parents did not cooperate in the investigation.
In a video shared by Ubi Franklin on Instagram, the mother of the pupil in the Chrisland School video saga narrates her encounter with the school, she said the school had contacted her to inform her about a kissing game involving her daughter under their care. She begged and appealed to Nigerians to intervene as the institution had been interrogating her daughter without her knowledge.
“They’ve been threatening my daughter, that if she speaks out, they’re going to kill her, that it is a men’s world, that she should keep quiet that she shouldn’t disclose to me”, the mother said the daughter had been “dying in silence.
“They took her to go and do a pregnancy test without me knowing,” she added.
