The University of Uyo (UniUyo) has sworn in 17, 550 matriculating students during a combined ceremony for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic session.

Speaking during the 30th and 31st matriculation ceremony held at the permanent campus of the institution on Friday in Uyo, Vice Chancellor of Uniuyo, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo admonished the new students to be diligent in their studies so that their parents and families would not be disappointed.

Ndaeyo who said the institution is a nurturing ground to groom future leaders that will create an impact in the world, urged the students to shun cultism, examination malpractices, and other vices that could truncate or terminate their studentship from the institution.

“Say no to examination misconduct, no to cultism (for cultism is evil). Remember and note that indiscipline can hinder one’s overall growth and success.

“Obey rules and regulations of the University, uphold and promote the noble ideals, principles, and those values for which the University of Uyo is Known for.

“This great institution has long stood as a symbol of academic excellence and a nurturing ground for future leaders. The degrees of the University of Uyo are only awarded to deserving students who are found to be worthy in character and learning.

“Do not disappoint yourselves, your parents, your families, your State, your country, and of course humanity. Let the nurturing hands of the University of Uyo pass through you so that at the end you will be a liberated human being,” he stated.

Describing Uniuyo as a symbol of academic excellence, the VC said the institution is blind to favouritism but treats everyone equally irrespective of where they come from.

He advised the students to always visit SERVICOM or the Students Affairs Division of the institution to lay out any complaint or get clarification over any issue in the institution.
