Pope Leo XIV to resume duties gradually after surgery

Pope Leo XIV has thanked well-wishers for their prayers and support following his recent cancer surgery, saying he will gradually resume his official duties.

The 71-year-old pontiff gave the assurance on Sunday while addressing worshippers gathered in St Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

“I would like to thank all the people who have been praying for me in these days,” he said, adding, “I will now gradually resume my activities.”
