Navy, Police join forces to boost maritime security, joint operations

The Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to closer collaboration with the Police Zone 2 Command to strengthen maritime security, intelligence sharing and joint operations.

Accompanied by senior naval officers, the naval commander thanked AIG Jimoh for the warm reception accorded his delegation. He described the maritime sector as critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and stressed the need for stronger cooperation between the Nigerian Navy and the Police in intelligence sharing, maritime security and joint operations.

He reaffirmed the Western Naval Command’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Zone 2 in the interest of national security.

In his response, AIG Jimoh described the visit as a reflection of the longstanding cordial relationship between the two agencies. He noted that Zone 2 had maintained a productive working relationship with the Western Naval Command over the years.

The AIG commended the Nigerian Navy for its professionalism and underscored the importance of sustained inter-agency cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges. He also assured the delegation of Zone 2’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos and Ogun states.

Senior officers from both agencies also held discussions on issues of mutual interest, including intelligence sharing, operational coordination and strategies for enhancing maritime security.

The Zone 2 Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with sister security agencies and other stakeholders to combat crime and sustain peace across Lagos and Ogun states.
