Gunmen burn INEC office in Enugu
Rampaging gunmen have razed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Ogurute, Igboeze North Local Government Headquarters, Enugu State.
The Network gathered that the INEC office in the Local Government Area was completely destroyed by the hoodlums on Sunday night.
It was gathered that the fire trucks on the premises couldn’t be deployed for fear of provoking the gunmen.
The operators were said to have awaited police presence before fighting the fire which destroyed most parts of the building.
It was learnt that fire trucks from Nsukka and Ogurute were deployed to fight the fire to prevent it from spreading.
The state government was forced to impose a state of emergency in the neighbouring Igboeze North and Igboeze South Local Government Areas because of the worsening insecurity in the area.
There is a heavy security presence in the area to curb the menace of the gunmen in the area.
