Gunmen attack Adeleke’s convoy after palace visit
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s convoy came under attack on Wednesday shortly after he left the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, with security operatives exchanging gunfire with the suspected assailants.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s convoy came under attack on Wednesday shortly after he left the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, with security operatives exchanging gunfire with suspected assailants.
The incident occurred moments after Governor Adeleke concluded a meeting with the monarch, where he reportedly presented his Certificate of Return.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity due to security concerns, stated that the attackers opened fire on the governor’s convoy as it prepared to leave the palace.
According to the witness, the ensuing gun battle lasted between 12 and 15 minutes before the governor’s convoy managed to depart the area.
“The shooting lasted for about 12 to 15 minutes. The governor’s security men exchanged gunfire with the hoodlums, who later fled the scene,” the eyewitness said.
A trader operating near the palace, identified as Munirat, suggested that the attackers might have been aware of the governor’s scheduled visit and positioned themselves around the vicinity beforehand.
No official statement had been issued regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.
