Gov’ship/assemblies elections: Thugs invade polling units in Lagos, injure, disperse voters
Thugs in large numbers have invaded Adejare Polling Unit in Ilasa, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State to disperse voters who were waiting for officials and ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission to begin voting for the ongoing governorship and state assembly election.
According to an eyewitness, Arome Solomon, INEC officials were nowhere to be found as of 10:12 am, and this left many people stranded until the thugs in the adjoining street invaded the polling unit with daggers and other sharp objects to disperse them.
“Policemen are also not present. The people have all run away and are not willing to return,” he added.
At Ajegunle, thugs threaten voters who are not going to vote for APC not to come out.

A caller from Okokomaiko said thugs are going around collecting ballots from people, asking Ibo to go back home since they were not ready to vote for APC.
Some journalists too were not left out as some of them had to abandon their duties for home. A journalist who spoke with our correspondent said they could not take endure what they saw but had to go back home.
Two of the journalists to our correspondent that they were born and raised in Lagos but just because of their names, they were beaten and turned back.
A caller at Egbeda, who has spent 28 years in Lagos, told one of our correspondents that after the elections, he would relocate from Lagos to his own town of Edo State.
It was also gathered that some voters were flocked and inflicted injuries on.
Nollywood actress, Chioma Chukwuka was also attacked by thugs carrying knives, bottles, and guns after she brought out the phone to film a polling unit.
The actress shared a video of scores of voters standing outside the polling unit, afraid to go in after thugs intimidated them.
The actress’ car was partially damaged by the thugs during the attack.
She drove to a police truck to report the attack before driving home after saying she won’t put her life at further risk.
At Ikorodu, APC agents were said to be shouting at voters telling them that anyone who wanted to vote against APC, should leave the line. And if eventually, anyone voted against APC, they would locate them and burn down their houses.
