As part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, FOS Autism Foundation has launched an autism awareness and developmental challenges campaign across schools in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The foundation’s founder, Osezusi Bolodeoku, said the initiative includes sensitisation visits to inclusive and special schools within the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) to promote awareness and support for children with autism and other developmental conditions.
According to him, the campaign is designed to encourage parents, caregivers, and school authorities to participate in the foundation’s free neuro-developmental screening and consultation scheduled for May 27 at Pistis Hub, Ikorodu.
Bolodeoku said the advocacy team also plans to visit the palace of the traditional ruler of Ipakodo Kingdom, Oba Bashir Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo Kingdom, as part of efforts to strengthen community support for the programme.
He noted that education stakeholders and school administrators praised the foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of children with autism and special needs.
“Heads of schools also applauded the initiative and urged parents to take advantage of the free screening programme,” he said.
The advocacy campaign visited schools including Salvation Army Primary School Inclusive, Ikorodu; Abule Eko Community Primary School Inclusive, Ijede; and Igbogbo Methodist Primary School.
Bolodeoku also paid a courtesy visit to Oba Sotonwa, who commended the organisation’s humanitarian efforts and pledged royal support for the successful hosting of the programme.
The Children’s Day event is expected to provide free developmental assessments, professional consultations, and support services for children, while promoting greater awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals living with autism and related developmental conditions.
