Zero Black Spot raid arrests five suspects
Five suspected drug dealers have been arrested, and a quantity of suspected illicit drugs has been recovered by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command during a targeted raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Mbak Itam, Ikot Mbang, as the command intensifies its Operation Zero Black Spot campaign in the state.
The operation was carried out on 11 August 2026 at about 4:00 pm following credible intelligence received by the police. Acting on the information, operatives raided the hideout and arrested five suspects believed to be involved in the distribution and sale of controlled substances.

The suspects were identified as Abraham Emmanuel, Happiness Archibong, Esther Okon, Esther Udo and Chinedu Benjamin. Several other suspects reportedly fled the scene on sighting the police team.
Items recovered during the operation included quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol, Loud and Ice, as well as ₦42,000, believed to be proceeds of the illicit drug trade.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command described the raid as another significant breakthrough in its sustained efforts to eliminate criminal hideouts, tackle drug-related crimes and combat other forms of criminality across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their courage, vigilance and commitment to duty, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations against criminal elements, particularly those who use isolated locations as bases for drug trafficking, cult-related activities and other violent crimes.
The Commissioner maintained that criminals would find no haven in Akwa Ibom State, emphasising that Operation Zero Black Spot is designed to expose, disrupt and dismantle criminal enclaves and strengthen public safety and confidence across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the command also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in preventing and detecting crime.
John added that the Akwa Ibom State Police command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property through proactive policing and sustained operations across the state.
