UNIUYO takes possession of 1,050-bed space hostel

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday, 13 December 2022 formally took possession of a 1,050 bed-space students’ hostel complex built by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Handing over the building facility keys to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, the representative of AHR Global Standard company, Engr. Fidel Inobeme said the state-of-the-art hostel project was probably built with specifications and will stand the test of time.

Speaking on behalf of the University Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo said he was delighted to receive the keys of the ultra-modern hostel for the institution built and furnished by the NDDC.

He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for the building project and gave assurance that the building will be properly put to use for the benefit of the students on campus.

According to him, “I thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the gift of this hostel, we are going to take stock of what is handed over to us today and can assure you that it will be properly put to use”.

He appealed to the federal government to further approve the construction of ring roads for the university. It could be recalled that the hostel which was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari on 30th December 2021 was built under the supervision of Senator Godswill Akpabio, the then Minister Niger Delta Affairs during the tenure of Mr Efiong Akwa the then Interim Administrator of NDDC.
