The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered yet another fraudulent agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The bogus entity, identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, was allegedly promoted by one Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, who is said to have used multiple aliases including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, and Prince George Buchi Nwabueze.

ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), disclosed the discovery while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday. He explained that the fake office had been illegally allocated space within the SGF premises, raising serious concerns about procedural weaknesses in the public service.

Following the briefing, President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of Prince Nwabueze and directed the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries: M.S. Danjuma, Mr Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah.

Dr Aliyu confirmed that the ICPC had engaged with the SGF’s office to gather critical information regarding the fraudulent operations. He added: “The investigation into these activities remains active under the direction of the President. I have briefed Mr President comprehensively on these new developments.”

The revelation comes in the wake of earlier reports linking other questionable agencies to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), further intensifying scrutiny of government structures.

President Tinubu’s swift action underscores his administration’s stated commitment to tackling corruption and strengthening accountability within the civil service.
