So-Safe Corps nabs notorious armed robbers in Ogun

Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested an armed robbery syndicate terrorising Iroko/Arije, Ota, Ogun State.

This is contained in a press statement issued by the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, on April 16, 2024, an emergency call was made to the Iroko/Arije Divisional Headquarters of the Corps by the community, informing that some gangs of armed robbers were threatening the peaceful atmosphere in the area, as law-abiding citizens were being robbed of their phones and other valuables at gunpoint.

Ganzallo noted that upon receiving such credible information from the citizens, the Ado Odo Ota Zonal Commander of the Corps, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, mandated the officers to clamp down on the criminal suspects.

The commander stated that the operation team of the corps swung into action and successfully arrested three out of the four suspected armed robbers.

“The three suspects are Abayomi Micheal David, also known as Scofield, aged 37, residing at 33, Unity Road, Abule Ijoko; Sam Oluwatobi, aged 24, resident of 24, Blessed Estate, Alayapupo Street, by Oyero road, Ijoko; and Oluwatosin Atilola, also known as Tosine, aged 37, residing at 168, Nascon Road, Ijoko in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area.

“The fourth suspect, Obani Desmond, also known as Kokolet, who remains at large is not new in the act. The suspects, during preliminary interrogation, confirmed him to be their ringleader, while efforts are ongoing to bring him to justice again,” Ganzallo said.

He added that the exhibits the corps recovered from the suspects include two pieces of empty and one live red star cartridge, one locally-made stainless cut-to-size pistol, and one motorbike.

Ganzallo noted that the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
