Police raid Uyo hideout, recover pistol, arrest four suspects
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Uyo, recovering a locally fabricated pistol, substances suspected to be cannabis, charms and other items believed to have been stolen.
The operation, which was based on credible intelligence, was carried out at about 7:30 pm on 26 July 2026 at Mbiabong Ikot Essien, off Oron Road, in Uyo Local Government Area.

The operation, which was based on credible intelligence, was carried out at about 7:30 pm on 26 July 2026 at Mbiabong Ikot Essien, off Oron Road, in Uyo Local Government Area.
Police said the raid formed part of efforts to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts, eliminate black spots and prevent criminal elements from operating within the state.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, several suspects fled on sighting the police team, but four were apprehended.
The suspects are Idonranyen Bassey, 18; Emmanuel Rafael, 15; Messiah Vincent, 21; and Goodnews Ubong Bassey, 16.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, quantities of substances suspected to be cannabis, charms, plumbing materials suspected to have been stolen, and several packaged clothing items believed to be proceeded of theft.
The police said the operation was conducted in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, to intensify efforts against criminal activities across Akwa Ibom.
The command assured residents that it would sustain operations against cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary, drug-related offences and other forms of crime.
It urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and provide timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
