Police nab two suspected hoodlums, recover firearm in Uyo

In a proactive effort to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements, operatives of the command have arrested two suspected hoodlums and recovered dangerous weapons in Uyo.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, said that in the early hours of Thursday, 2 October 2025, operatives, while on routine patrol along Idoro Road by Abolin Junction, intercepted two suspicious individuals loitering in a dark spot.
She said, “At about 0030hrs, the vigilant patrol team arrested one Joshua Benjamin, male, from Mbiaku Ikono Local Government Area and one Kingsley Friday Michael, male, from Ikot Ekop, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
“Instant search on them led to the recovery of one fabricated revolving AK-47 rifle and one jackknife.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects failed to provide any reasonable explanation for their suspicious presence at that hour. They falsely claimed to be security guards but could not present uniforms, means of identification, or any credible source for the firearm found in their possession.”
According to her, the suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation.
She noted that the command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across Akwa Ibom State.
Members of the public are enjoined to remain vigilant and promptly report all suspicious activities to the nearest Police formation
