Police nab quack doctor over fake credit alert in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Philip Agbe Chukwuemeka, 31, ‘m’ at Mgbuoba NTA Road, for buying goods with fake alert.

In the course of interrogation, he claimed to be a medical doctor working at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, said that preliminary investigation revealed that his claim to be false, as he dropped out of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, while in 200 level.

She said: “The suspect, who is a native of Umuhunvosi Village, in Isiala-Ngwa South of Abia State, met a lady via the Badoo social media platform, and came all the way from Enugu to Port Harcourt to meet her in person.

“He paid for his lodging during their date, using fake credit alerts for services of about One Hundred and Eleven Thousand Naira.

“The case is currently with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet Investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday urges all and sundry to employ caution in the utilization of social media, be wary of fraudulent credit alerts by unsuspected persons and be quick in reporting individuals with deceptive tendencies.”
