Police honour Retired AIG Ezeozue at Nanka funeral

The Nigeria Police Force has honoured the late retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ezeozue, as senior officers, family members, friends and dignitaries gathered for his funeral in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Inspector-General of Police, represented by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, joined mourners at the funeral ceremony on Thursday, 27 August 2026, to pay his final respects to the retired senior police officer.

Ama described Ezeozue as a distinguished police officer and accomplished public servant whose career was marked by dedication, professionalism and commitment to the nation.

He said the deceased made significant contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and served his country with distinction, adding that his service and contributions to policing would remain part of his enduring legacy.

The commissioner commiserated with the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and associates of the deceased, while praying to God Almighty to grant Ezeozue eternal rest and give the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

He also thanked serving and retired police officers, dignitaries and other well-wishers who attended the funeral to honour the departed officer.

Ama said their presence reflected the enduring bond of comradeship and solidarity within the Nigeria Police Force, particularly among officers who had served together.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Awka, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the dommand said it joined the Nigeria Police Force and the Ezeozue family in mourning the retired AIG. The command also celebrated his distinguished service, sacrifice and lasting contributions to policing, describing his legacy as one that would continue to be remembered by those he served alongside.
