Police deploy 7,194 security operatives for LG election

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has deployed 7,194 officers and men of the command including other security agencies to all polling units and wards in all parts of the state.
The operatives are to provide security for the local government election which holds on October 31 in the 31 local government areas of the state.
A statement signed and forwarded to journalists on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Odiko MacDon, said the deployment of the security operatives is aimed at providing a top-notch security in the area during the LG election.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, has assured Akwa Ibomites of adequate security before, during and after the election.
He, however, warned residents against violating the restriction of movement order, which begins from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
