The Concerned Delta South Youths for Good Governance (CDSYGG) says time to move away from the era of old and retired politicians who may no longer resonate with the aspirations of the youth.

The political group, however, called for a leadership system that embraces the energy and vision of the young and vibrant leaders.

The group also advocated for youth leadership within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to revitalize the political landscape in Delta State and Nigeria.

The observations were made in a statement signed by its President, Mr Aluya Okodili and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Warri.

They said that the call had become expedient in order to reshape the party’s direction and align it with the aspirations of the youthful population of the state.

The group also noted that the position of Delta State Chairman of the PDP is crucial in shaping the party’s trajectory and influencing the state’s political dynamics.

They added that with the majority of Delta State’s population being comprised of young people, it was essential for the party’s leadership to reflect on this demographic reality.

The group observed that young leaders were endowed with innovative ideas and a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to their generations.

“The youth are seen as the key to driving progress and development in Delta State, with their energy and drive being vital in today’s fast-paced world.

“A shift towards youth leadership is a push to move away from the era of older politicians who may no longer resonate with the modern-day aspirations of the youth,” they said.

The group emphasized the need for leaders who possessed both a sound educational background and significant political experience.

“In the political landscape of Delta State, Nigeria, the position of the Delta State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds significant importance.

‘This role not only shapes the direction of the party but also wields influence over the entire state’s political dynamics.

“It is evident that a fresh approach is needed to invigorate the party, and that change must come in the form of young, vibrant leaders.

“The demographics of Delta State reveal a stark reality: the majority of the population is comprised of young people. These individuals represent the future of the state and hold the key to its progress and development.

“It is imperative, therefore, that the leadership of the PDP in Delta State reflects this demographic reality.

“Young people bring with them innovative ideas, fresh perspectives, and a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to their generation.

“The time has come to move away from the era of old and retired politicians who may no longer resonate with the aspirations of the youth.

“These seasoned politicians, while they may have served the party and the state in the past, may not have the energy, vision, or drive to propel Delta State and the PDP forward in today’s fast-paced world.

“What we need are young men and women who are not only well-educated in various fields of life but who also possess a wealth of experience in politics.

“These individuals understand the challenges facing the state and have the passion and determination to address them head-on.

“They are the ones who can breathe new life into the party and inspire a new generation of leaders to step forward and make a difference,” it said.

The statement noted that with the chairmanship of the Delta State PDP being zoned to Delta South, “we have a unique opportunity to usher in a new era of leadership.

“We must identify and support young and tested individuals with impeccable character to take on this crucial role.

“These leaders must be committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, and must be willing to listen to the voices of the people they represent”.

The group said that the time for change was now and urged everyone to embrace youth leadership in the Delta State PDP to guarantee a bright and promising future for the party and the state as a whole.

“Let us rally behind young, vibrant leaders who can steer us towards a more prosperous, inclusive, and progressive Delta State.

“The push for youth leadership in the Delta PDP signals a growing momentum for change and renewal within the party,” the statement noted.
