Police confirm killing of A’Ibom Poly final year student

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the death of a final-year student shot by suspected armed robbers.

It was learnt that armed robbers terrorising Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, school environment shot to death a final year student of the Electrical Electronics Department identified as Saviour.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Saturday at about 8 pm when the victim tried dragging his cell phone with the robbers close to where he formerly lived at Ikot Uboh in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

The source who chose to remain unnamed said the armed robbers opened fire on Saviour as he tried to raise an alarm.

The source said the incident has induced fear among residents of the area and the school.

Speaking on the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John said the command was working to ensure that the culprits were apprehended.

“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. CP Waheed Ayilara determines to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable,” she said.
