Police arrest fake DSP, recover drugs in A’Ibom

The Nigeria Police, Akwa Ibom State Command have arrested a fake Deputy Inspector of Police (DSP) identified as Vincent Sampson Enuneku and recovered drugs (Indian hemp) as well as cloned police Identity card from him.

A statement e-signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Mcdon in Uyo on Tuesday noted that the suspect was arrested on the 28th of June 2022 while trying to use his fake ASP identity card to prevent the arrest of a notorious wanted criminal.

The statement read in parts: “Personnel of Anti-Cultism Squad of the Command arrested one Vincent Sampson Enuneku, 43 years old from Ndokwa Local Government Area of Delta State for impersonation and being in possession of large substance, suspected to be Indian hemp.

“The suspect was arrested on the 28th of June, 2022 in Uyo while attempting to use his fake Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) ID card to prevent the arrest of a wanted criminal.”

Mcdon disclosed that Enuneku; 43 from Ndokwa local government area of Delta State was using the fake Identity card in the Nigeria Police to pass through checkpoints freely in the south-south states while transporting Indian hemp and other prohibited items to Akwa Ibom state.

He said the suspect also use the police’s fake identity card to extort and harass innocent members of the public, thereby bringing the image of the Force to disrepute.

Exhibits recovered from the suspect include a fake Police ID Card and a large quantity of Indian hemp.

He said the state Commissioner of Police CP Olatoye Durosinmi has warmed impersonators of security agencies to stop.

“The CP has warned impersonators of Police and other Agencies to desist forthwith or have the Police to contend with,” he said.
