PFN confirms passing of Rev. Uma Ukpai

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has officially confirmed the passing of one of its founding fathers, Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai.

Speaking at a press conference in Uyo on Wednesday, Bishop David Bakare said the revered cleric passed away on October 6, 2025.

He explained that the PFN chose to formally announce Ukpai’s death in the city where he carried out much of his ministry.

Bakare recalled that the PFN was founded 40 years ago during the Great Lagos Crusade and now boasts over 60 million followers across Nigeria.

He disclosed that Rev. Ukpai was slated to be the keynote speaker at the fellowship’s 40th anniversary celebration, scheduled for October 23, 2025, at the Redemption City Hope Arena in Lagos, where the organisation was founded.

“Our father, Uma Ukpai, was scheduled to be the only speaker on that occasion, and then the news broke on the 6th of this month that he had gone to be with the Lord.

Having heard this, “Our National President, Bishop Wale Oke, immediately visited Mma Ukpai and the family, commiserating, encouraging them, and praying with them.

“He decided that when they come back home, the PFN national leadership should send a delegation to welcome them.”
