Osun Senator arrives for police questioning

Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over alleged inciting remarks.

Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Samuel Erale.

The invitation followed the circulation of a campaign video from an All Progressives Congress rally in Ilesa, in which the senator was allegedly heard making remarks in Yoruba that were interpreted as urging his supporters to attack members of the rival Accord Party.

The comments attracted police attention as political activities intensified ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

On Tuesday, the Osun State Police Command directed Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department for questioning over the video, describing the alleged remarks as threatening, inciting and capable of escalating tension ahead of the poll.
