One dies, another injured in auto crash in A’Ibom

One person has died and another was injured in a road accident that happened on IBB Way near the Women Development Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Monday.

It was learnt that the accident occurred when a tricycle KVS King with number plate JW740KET ramped into a stationary Mack truck belonging to AMITEC construction company with number plate KPR321XA.

It was gathered that one of the passengers, a woman who sat in front of the Keke rider died on the spot while the driver was injured.

Confirming the accident, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Matthew Olonisaye attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure.

Olonisaye advised vehicles owners to take the maintenance of their vehicles seriously, adding that the command would continue to be hard on vehicles owners who compromise on the directive.

He prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and the deceased eternal rest.

“Vehicle owners should not take maintenance of their vehicles for granted. The Sector command said they will continue to be hard on owners of vehicles that are not roadworthy.

“Road users should obey traffic rules and regulations and continue to cooperate with our operatives to minimize road mishaps,” he stated.
