One arrested as police storm Itam drug hideout
Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have raided a suspected drug den in Itam, recovering hard drugs, weapons and cash.
The operation, carried out in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure public safety, took place at Ntak Inyang along Calabar–Itu Road.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, said on Sunday 15 February 20,26 that the raid, conducted on 14 February 2026 at about 11:35 am, led to the arrest of one suspect, Akin Robert, a male from Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to her, a search of the suspect reportedly uncovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a dagger, a pair of scissors and the sum of ₦46,500, believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for further investigation.
The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on drug-related offences and other criminal activities that threaten the peace and stability of the state.
It urged residents to continue providing credible information to assist ongoing security operations.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
