Omo-Agege launches Delta campaign: Vows stronger Senate voice

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially launched his campaign for the Delta Central Senatorial District seat under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), promising stronger representation and a renewed fight for the interests of his people.

The campaign flag-off took place in Uvwie Local Government Area, where Omo-Agege and his team visited Wards 1, 2, and 3 to rally support. He emphasised his track record of delivering tangible projects and vowed to continue championing Delta’s development if returned to the Senate.

Omo-Agege alleged that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had attempted to disrupt his campaign by sending thugs to attack venues and intimidate supporters. He warned that Delta State belongs to all its people and insisted that no one holds a monopoly on violence.

He appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, and the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Yemi Oyeyemi, to hold the governor accountable should harm come to him, his family, or his supporters.

Highlighting his achievements, Omo-Agege reminded supporters of his role in establishing the Federal Polytechnic and the Nigeria Aerospace School in Orogun, as well as securing the Defence Space School for Delta State.

He criticised the current senator representing Delta Central for failing to advocate for the Sapele Sea Port, even as trillions of naira were allocated to revive the Lagos Sea Port.

He further accused the APC-led government in Delta of squandering over ₦4 trillion in the past three and a half years without meaningful development beyond flyovers, leaving schools where pupils still sit on bare floors. He pledged that the NDC would correct these failures, create jobs, and deliver real progress.

Omo-Agege urged voters to support the NDC across all levels, including its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, and governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye.

“When Obi becomes President, the interests of the Urhobo people will be protected. So, as you vote for me as Senator, vote for Peter Obi as President and all NDC candidates,” he declared.

Among those present at the campaign launch were Dr Veronica Ogbuagu, former Commissioner of Education; Judith Enamuotor; and Hon. Rotimi Ukuade, NDC House of Assembly candidate in Uvwie.
