The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate for Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Jonathan Robinson Obuebite, has urged Nigerians and Bayelsans to sustain unity and collective efforts towards building a more prosperous society.
Obuebite made the call in a goodwill message issued on Thursday in Yenagoa to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of Bayelsa State’s creation.
He described the twin anniversaries as significant milestones that reflected the resilience, peaceful disposition and unity of Nigerians and Bayelsans despite the challenges confronting the country and the state.
Obuebite noted that October 1 held particular significance for Bayelsa, as the state was created from the old Rivers State on October 1, 1996, by the military administration of the late Gen Sani Abacha.
“On behalf of my family and political party, the APC, I heartily felicitate with you on this double celebration of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the creation of our dear Bayelsa State,” he said.
He described Bayelsa as the homeland of its people and expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the state through three decades of development and challenges.
The APC candidate acknowledged the contributions of past military administrators and civilian leaders to the development of the state, including the late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Timipre Sylva and Senator Seriake Dickson.
Obuebite also commended Governor Douye Diri for what he described as people-oriented leadership, infrastructural development and efforts to promote peace and unity across the state.
He praised the people of Nembe and Brass for their resilience, peaceful disposition and commitment to the development of Bayelsa and Nigeria.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I pray that the Lord will heal our land, unite us more and let His peace reign in our homes and communities,” he said.
Obuebite expressed optimism that the next 30 years would bring greater development, prosperity and unity to Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Bayelsa and Nigeria.
He urged Nigerians and Bayelsans to maintain their faith, support one another and work collectively towards building a better society.
