ABER appoints Dogubo-Ovai finance director
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed Mrs Stella Dogubo-Ovai as Director of Finance of its Continental Executive Council (CEC), with immediate effect.
The appointment was approved by ABER’s Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Piriye Kiyaramo.
Dogubo-Ovai, who is based in the United States, previously served as Director of Treasury of the ABER Women’s Forum.

The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed Mrs Stella Dogubo-Ovai as Director of Finance of its Continental Executive Council (CEC), with immediate effect.
The appointment was approved by ABER’s Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Piriye Kiyaramo.
Dogubo-Ovai, who is based in the United States, previously served as Director of Treasury of the ABER Women’s Forum.
Kiyaramo said her appointment recognised her integrity, financial discipline and commitment to advancing Africa’s Blue Economy agenda.
As Director of Finance, Dogubo-Ovai will provide strategic financial leadership across ABER’s continental and diaspora structures.
She will oversee budgeting, fund management, financial accountability and donor compliance, as well as supervise finance and treasury officers across the organisation’s structures in Africa and the diaspora.
She will serve in a voluntary continental capacity for an initial two-year term, renewable in accordance with applicable provisions.
Dogubo-Ovai will report to the Convener/CEO and the CEC while operating remotely from the United States. Her responsibilities will also include strategic travel for high-level engagements when required.
ABER is a continental multi-stakeholder platform that brings together experts, policymakers, governments, development partners, private-sector leaders, women, young people and coastal communities.
The platform is convened by the BRACED Tourism Promotion and Development Initiative (BTPDI) and promotes what it describes as a sustainable, inclusive and sovereign Blue Economy in Africa under the vision, “One Africa. One Ocean. One Prosperous Future.”
ABER focuses on policy advocacy, knowledge exchange and partnership development aimed at harnessing Africa’s ocean, coastal and inland water resources.
It also works with the African Union, regional economic communities, governments, United Nations agencies and development institutions on initiatives relating to shared prosperity, climate resilience and food security.
