Nigeria receives COVID-19 vaccine amidst fanfare

Nigeria’s Presidential Task Force through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) on Tuesday received COVID-19 vaccine amidst celebration.

Many have criticised the nation for the loud celebration following the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine, blaming the poor concept on inability of the Nigerian government to encourage technological development locally.

Recall that Nigeria received nearly four million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.

It was gathered that COVAX shipped 3.94 million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, from Mumbai to Abuja.
