The Akwa Ibom State Directorate of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced the registration of youths for training in high-demand, market-driven skills aimed at promoting self-reliance and economic growth.
The training will be conducted under Phase III of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI), through which 26,961 youths nationwide will benefit.
The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the NDE, Mrs Uduak Essien, disclosed this in a statement issued in Uyo on Saturday.
Essien said the programme would provide participants with training in agriculture, vocational trades, entrepreneurship and public works.
She said the online registration, which commenced on Thursday, July 23, would remain open for one week.
She urged unemployed Nigerians aged between 18 and 45 years who are interested in the programme to register through the NDE registration portal at www.nderegistrationportal.ng.
“Successful applicants will commence training nationwide following the official flag-off scheduled for the first week of August,” Essien said.
She added that beneficiaries would be selected from all electoral wards across Akwa Ibom State, including persons with disabilities, to ensure inclusiveness.
The state coordinator warned that beneficiaries of the first and second phases of the programme were not eligible to apply for the current phase.
According to her, participants will undergo six months of training to equip them with the skills required for sustainable livelihoods.
