Minister urges state to create conducive environment to attract projects

The Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has emphasized the importance of a peaceful environment in local governments to attract government projects and investments during the launch of a new compressed gas project in Uquo. Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State.
The 10 million Standard Cubic Feet/Day Compressed Gas project is expected to enhance the local economy by creating jobs and making Esit Eket a destination for investments.
The Federal Government is investing in the project, and additional funding of N400 billion will be made available for local participants.
According to Ekpo, the project aims to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fuel sources.
“The project is not the issue of money; it is the issue of a peaceful environment and the Federal Government is taking equity in this project. I thank him for citing this project in Esit Eket.
“The project would add value to Esit Eket LGA and create employment; Esit Eket LGA will be a destination. It is a wonderful project that somebody has decided to release what he has and gone out to beg for money in order to invest in this place.
“It is left for you to provide a conducive environment so that the project would thrive,” he said.
Ekpo added that in the next two months, he would release another N400 bn for any Akwa Ibom son or daughter who is going to be involved in the project.
He, however, explained that if the project is completed, the issue of going in to queue for PMS at N900 will no longer be there as there will be alternative that will not only be cheapter but environmental friendly.
Mr Nsikan Johnny, Chairman/CEO, Nsik Oil and Gas Company Limited, said the turning of the soil marks a significant milestone in the company’s quest to provide cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy solutions to Nigerians and beyond.
