Man killed in suspected cult clash in Yenagoa
A suspected rivalry between two cult groups has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The deceased, identified simply as Ebi, popularly known as “Npotor,” was said to be from the Amassoma community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
Sources within the community alleged that the killing was linked to an ongoing supremacy battle between two rival cult groups known as the Bobos and the Greenlanders.

A suspected rivalry between two cult groups has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The deceased, identified simply as Ebi, popularly known as “Npotor,” was said to be from the Amassoma community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
Sources within the community alleged that the killing was linked to an ongoing supremacy battle between two rival cult groups known as the Bobos and the Greenlanders.
According to a community source, the deceased allegedly ventured into Yenegue, an area believed to be under the control of the Bobos, where he was reportedly apprehended by members of the rival group.
“He was said to have gone to Yenegue, which is controlled by the Bobos. He was allegedly captured and later found dead,” the source said.
The victim’s body was reportedly discovered by the roadside with his hands tied.
The Divisional Police Officer in Igbogene has been deployed to the area, and the remains have been evacuated.
The spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend those responsible for the killing.
