Insecurity: 36 state governors, speakers to converge in Abuja for an emergency meeting

The 36 State Governors and all the Speakers of the States Houses of Assembly are to hold a crucial emergency meeting on the worsening security situation in the country.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr Asishana Bayo Okauru, said in the invitation issued to the governors and speakers on Tuesday that the meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2022.

Okauru said that the crucial meeting which will hold at Frazier Suites, Central Business District, Abuja by 4 pm,

According to him, the 72 participants would brainstorm on issues affecting the security and general wellbeing of Nigerians and other issues of national importance.

He quoted the Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Forum, Dr John Kayode Fayemi as having urged his colleagues to prevail on the speakers of their respective States’ Houses of Assembly to attend the meeting.

“We seek Your Excellencies’ indulgence to kindly facilitate the participation of the Hon. Speaker of your State House of Assembly at this important emergency meeting,”

Okauru said in the invitation letter.
