HUP-CCT: FG recommences payment to over 25,000 beneficiaries in A’Ibom

The Federal Government on Saturday recommenced payment of stipends to over 25, 000 beneficiaries in in nine Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom under the Household Uplifting Programme-Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT).
Our Correspondent reports that the Household Uplifting Programme-Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT) is managed by the office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
The Focal Person for Social Investment Programme in Akwa Ibom, Dr Godwin Akpan, said the disbursement was carried out in Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Local Government Areas simultaneously and would also cover; Eastern Obolo, Ikono, Mkpat Enin Nsit Ubium Onna and Uruan LGAs.
Akpan said that each beneficiary would go home with N20, 000 in line with FG mandate of lifting millions household from poverty.
He commended the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for its sensitivity toward the plight of the less-privileged in the society.
The focal person said the arrangement of reaching vulnerable poor has proven successful, adding that by 2030 million of Nigerians will be lifted out of poverty.
“This programme by the President Muhammadu Buhari is highly sensitive to the plight of the people and its commendable. Many lives are being touched.
“Indeed, by 2030 millions will be lifted from poverty and the poverty rating of the country will be reversed,” Akpan said.
Akpan disclosed that they would commence payment digitalisation in Nsit Atai, Ikono and Uruan LGAs, where beneficiaries would be paid through their account.
Speaking to our correspondent, a 67 year old beneficiary, Madam Uduak Jimmy, expressed satisfaction to the President Buhari’s government for giving her hope.


She promised to invest the money in palm oil production to help her generate more income for her grand children.
Another beneficiary, a 60 year old grandmother, Mrs Grace Udoakpan, said she would remain grateful to the federal government for the kind gesture shown to her and promised to invest the money to generate more income to help sustain her life.
