Hoodlums storm Makurdi, North Bank on fire, market, shops shut

Hoodlums have taken over most parts of Makurdi, the Benue State capital this morning.

The hoodlums were said to have been angered by the persistent fuel scarcity and unavailability of new Naira noted.

They wielded sticks and iron rods as they chanted war songs.

It was learnt that people were on the run as the North Bank was on fire.

As of the time of filling this report, the hoodlums were moving to the main market – maybe for looting but the market had been shut.

Police spokesperson SP Catherine Anene Sewuese in response to our sms simply replied This is not possible “

Similarly Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ortom, Mr Nathaniel Ikyur failed to respond to our WhatsApp message on the crises. We learnt he was attending a function with the governor.
