Gunmen unleash terror in Agege, kill 47-yr-old PDP chieftain’s son, Dapo Sarumi

The orgy of violence that has greeted the ongoing campaign for elective offices in the forthcoming general elections is assuming a more dangerous dimension with the killing, Monday night, of one Toyin Adeniji in Agege.

The deceased, the 47-year-old foster son of Chief Dapo Sarumi, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, a former Minister of Communication and former Deputy National Chairman (South/west) of the party, was reportedly shot dead in front of Sarumi’s Oyewole Street residence in Agege.

Crime Puzzle gathered that the late Toyin and six of his friends were sitting opposite Sarumi’s house at about 9:00 pm on the day of the incident, when some unidentified persons, some of whom were on masks, walked past them and simultaneously turned back.

Sensing danger, they all scampered for safety, but the deceased was not as lucky as the others, as he was shot in the head, and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Policemen from Area “G”, Ogba, have cordoned off the area, even as the case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).

Efforts to get the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, to speak on the incident were fruitless.
