Irate youths on Wednesday in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, set two banks and two vehicles ablaze in remonstrance against scarcity of new Naira notes and fuel.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Bright-Edafe, in a post on his Twitter handle confirmed the protest.

He said: “In UDU LGA of Delta State, some unguided youths/miscreants in the name of protest have set two banks and two vehicles ablaze. We have arrested nine suspects so far. Some persons will still call this protest.”

A similar protest also occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State, where Nigerians were also protesting against the scarcity of Naira notes and fuel.

It was gathered that the protesters blocked major roads in the city preventing people from going to their houses or work.
