A political group, Delta Fresh Vision (DFV), has described the resignation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a welcome development, saying it presents an opportunity for the party to rebuild and strengthen ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said Omo-Agege’s exit would enable the APC in Delta State to heal from internal divisions, restore unity and deepen democratic participation within its ranks.

In a statement signed by its Acting Chairman, Wilberforce Arinze, Secretary, Sunny Omamadia, and Public Relations Officer, Grace Akaighe, DFV alleged that the party structure in Delta State had, for years, been dominated by one individual rather than guided by collective leadership.

According to the group, Omo-Agege’s defeat in the Delta Central Senatorial District primary election reflected growing dissatisfaction among party members over what it described as overbearing influence and winner-takes-all politics.

The statement noted that the emergence of Senator Ede Dafinone as the party’s candidate in the primary marked the beginning of a new chapter for the APC in Delta State.

DFV also revisited Omo-Agege’s political history, recalling his movement across political platforms and his relationships with political figures, including former governor James Ibori, ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Great Ogboru and O’tega Emerhor.

The group further alleged that Omo-Agege often distanced himself from political activities that did not directly advance his ambitions, citing his alleged absence from recent APC primaries in Delta State.

It claimed that despite staying away from key party activities in the state, the former Deputy Senate President relied on perceived political influence from Abuja in pursuit of a return to the Senate in 2027.

According to the statement, Omo-Agege’s resignation has now created space for broader participation, inclusiveness and internal democracy within the party.

The group added that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other stakeholders now have an opportunity to reposition the APC for stability, governance and strategic growth without internal distractions.

DFV maintained that no individual was bigger than a political party, stressing that political organisations often emerge stronger after the departure of dominant personalities.

While acknowledging Omo-Agege’s right to pursue his political ambitions elsewhere, the group urged APC members in Delta State to remain united and focus on strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
