The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Akwa Ibom State Command, has charged its personnel to make professionalism a personal commitment and to uphold integrity in service delivery.
The Sector Commander, Mrs Felicia Kalu, gave the charge on Monday in Uyo during the 2026 Customer Service Week celebration.
Kalu said the theme of this year’s celebration, “The Extra Mile,” reminds personnel that excellent customer service goes beyond doing only what is required.
She said the theme calls on officers and marshals to do a little more, care a little deeper and make a deliberate effort to give everyone a positive experience.
According to her, going the extra mile may simply mean showing courtesy when it would be easier to be impatient.
“As we celebrate Customer Service Week, I urge every FRSC officer and staff member to make professionalism a personal commitment.
“Above all, let us uphold integrity. The extra mile must never mean compromising established rules or procedures.
“Rather, it means finding lawful, ethical and professional ways to provide better service,” she said.
She urged personnel to turn complaints into opportunities for improvement, challenges into opportunities for innovation, and ordinary service into exceptional service.
Kalu also charged them to make every interaction with the public a chance to build confidence in the corps.
“Let us remember that behind every request is a human being who deserves to be treated with dignity.
“Let us be conscious of our language, appearance, attitude, conduct and response time,” she said.
She warned against unnecessary delays, discourtesy, indifference, rude behaviour, incivility towards the motoring public and any act capable of undermining public confidence in the corps.
The sector commander also urged members of the public to continue to partner with the FRSC, stressing that “road safety is a shared responsibility.”
She said the cooperation of road users remained vital to achieving safer roads and reducing road traffic crashes.
