The Federal Government said it would sanction Cable Network News (CNN), over its investigative report, which claimed that Nigerian soldiers opened fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll plaza, on October 20.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said this during a press in Abuja, on Thursday.

According to Mohammed, the events of October 20, was that of a massacre without any corpse discovered, adding that nobody has come forward to say that they lost a family member following the Lekki Toll Gate incident.

The minister stated that CNN only saw videos from social media and made their conclusion without verifying the incident. He noted that this type of report could result in the network being sanctioned by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

He also said some unscrupulous persons including celebrities circulated fake news on the social media that aggravated the violence that trailed the two-week demonstration.

He asked persons with evidence on the Lekki shootings to give its testimony before the Lagos panel probing the incident.
