Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr Akan Okon says the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel will do his best with available funds towards the completion of Ibom Deep Seaport project.

He said the governor was also making plans to give training opportunities to youths of Akwa Ibom origin to get them prepared for the job requirements at the seaport.

Speaking recently during a chat with journalists, the commissioner stated that much energy had been exerted by the present administration to gain Federal Government’s approval for the seaport.

Akan Okon pointed out that though government will not relent in preparing the grounds to get the youths ready for jobs, private citizens and corporate organizations should equally get prepared to take up opportunities.

Okon explained that the seaport, at completion, has the capacity to change the economic fortunes of the state.

He said, “The Government is interested in ensuring that young men and women who are brilliant, are given opportunities to excel. Ibom Deep Seaport will unlock the hidden potentials of Akwa Ibom State.”

He noted that necessary development templates were being explored to make the process of actualizing the Seaport a reality.

The Commissioner also sued for peace from indigenes and residents, adding that loyalty, steadfastness, and support to the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, will make for a smooth achievement of his development blueprints.
