The Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel has donated 30 patrol vehicles to the Akwa Ibom State Command of Nigeria Police Force to tackle the spate of insecurity in the state.

The 30 vehicles are the first batch of the 100 vehicles targeted to be delivered to the security agencies for mobility, as reaction to the rising spate of crime in the state.

This was contained in a release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, after the State Executive Council meeting in Uyo on Thursday.

He said the governor, who also presided over the security council meeting attended by all service commanders in the state, also approved the reactivation of a Joint Task Force in the state.

He said the vehicles were received on behalf of the service commanders by the Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amiengheme.

He said the commissioner of police, who spoke on behalf of other service commanders assured the citizens of maximum protection during the yuletide and beyond and urged citizens to call the police emergency numbers when there was an incident and avoid sensational reportage in social media.
