EFCC arrests eight suspects over Internet fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo Zonal Command has arrested eight persons suspected of internet fraud.
The suspects were said to have been arrested in an early morning sting operation at Osongama Extension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
It was gathered that seven laptops, 13 smartphones, two wristwatches and one router were recovered from the suspects during the arrest on Thursday, May 2, 2024, following an intelligence report.
Speaking on the incident on Wednesday in Uyo, EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale said the suspects would be charged to court once investigations are complete.
“Operatives of Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC on Thursday, May 2, 2024, arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning sting operation at Osong Ama Extension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
“They were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.
“Items recovered from them include seven laptops; 13 smartphones; two wrist watches and one router,” he stated.
