The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi before the Kano State High Court over the alleged misappropriation of ₦34.875m belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement issued on behalf of the commission.

Nazifi was arraigned on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, before Justice Musa Karaye on one count of criminal misappropriation.

According to the charge, the defendant allegedly misappropriated the money between September and October 2024 in Kano.

The charge alleged that Adaji transferred the money, on Nazifi’s instruction, into the account of one Muazu Abdullahi with First Bank for the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA.

However, Nazifi allegedly converted the money to his personal use.

The charge reads in part: “That you, Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi, sometime between September and October 2024 in Kano, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly misappropriated the aggregate sum of ₦34,875,000, property of one Fahad Balarabe Adaji.”

The commission said the alleged offence contravened Section 308 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State and was punishable under Section 309 of the same law.

Nazifi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.

Following his plea, the prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, asked the court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant in a correctional facility.

Justice Karaye subsequently ordered that Nazifi be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the case until November 2, 2026, for hearing.
