Cross River Police arrest four more vandals, recover steel materials
Operatives of the Cross River State Police Command have arrested four additional suspects and recovered stolen iron materials in connection with the vandalism of facilities belonging to Akamkpa Quarry Limited (Sterling Global).
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed that the arrests were made on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at Obung Community in Akamkpa Local Government Area by the Violent Crime Response Unit (Sector 2, Akamkpa/Ugep).

Operatives of the Cross River State Police Command have arrested four additional suspects and recovered stolen iron materials in connection with the vandalism of facilities belonging to Akamkpa Quarry Limited (Sterling Global).
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed that the arrests were made on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at Obung Community in Akamkpa Local Government Area by the Violent Crime Response Unit (Sector 2, Akamkpa/Ugep).
The operation followed a distress call from the Village Head of Obung, HRH Ntufam Elijah Clement Effiong, who alerted authorities that local youths were pursuing members of a vandalism syndicate.
Responding swiftly, officers arrested Michael Ochuche (20), Elvis Enor Friday (20), Theophilus Francis (26), and Charles Vincent Etta (23). Operatives recovered two long iron poles and six iron reinforcement baskets at the scene.
These arrests follow the earlier detention of two other suspects, Kelvin Ignatius and Arnold Okon, as police continue efforts to fully dismantle the vandalism network.
The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to identify other accomplices.
