Court jails Kyari’s co-defendants two years
A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced two co-defendants in a suit filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) against suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari over alleged drug deal to two years imprisonment.
Qed reports that the ruling on Tuesday followed the plea bargain by Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne, the sixth and seventh defendants respectively.
Justice Emeka Nwite sentenced them to two years’ imprisonment on each of counts five, six and seven.
He said the terms, which shall run concurrently, would commence from the day the NDLEA arrested the defendants.
The two defendants, Umeibe and Ezenwanne, were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu by the police for drug trafficking and handed over to the NDLEA.
They had pleaded guilty to five, six and seven counts preferred against them by the anti-narcotic agency.
