Community leaders in A’Ibom community hail govt for inaugurating 9.5km road

Community leaders in Ulliong, Edikor and Uduetta, Udung Uko Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, have applauded the 9.5 km road inaugurated to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the state.
They said the access road into the area was the first to be constructed since the creation of the local government area 27 years ago.
The Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko, HRM Edidem Bassey Etim Edet, said before work commenced on the road, the route which was a death trap, was completely abandoned by motorists.
Speaking on Wednesday after the inauguration of the road which has a spur to Eyo Abasi in Oron LGA, Edidem Edet, noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has through the execution of the project, fulfilled his social contract with the people of Udung Uko.
“Through this project, you’ve proven your worth, and the social contact you signed with Udung Uko people, you have fulfilled it,” he said.
The Paramount Ruler who spoke on behalf of other royal fathers in the area, appreciated the Governor for the road, saying the local government area would begin to generate income in order to finance some of its projects, which would yield benefits for the people.
Speaking on the road, Governor Emmanuel said, “I want to assure you that till the last day that I would exit office, I will continue to work for our people”.
The Governor further said the contract for the extension of the road to Mbo LGA, which is less than a 10 km drive from Udung Uko has been approved, saying it would be completed before the end of his administration.
